Privacy Notice

Last Updated: December 2025

I. Controller Identity

Data Controller: Juan Carlos Rivera Alvarado

Contact: main@focuz.world

Application: Focuz

II. Privacy Commitment

Focuz is designed with your privacy as our priority. We do not collect, transmit, or store your data on our own servers. Your information is stored locally on your device and, if you choose to enable iCloud sync, in your private iCloud account managed exclusively by Apple.

III. Data We Store

The application stores the following information on your iOS device (and in your private iCloud if sync is enabled):

  • Habits: Name, description, emoji/icon, color, repetition frequency, notification times, creation date, active status
  • Completion records: Date and time when you mark a habit as completed
  • Statistics: Current streaks, historical best streaks, completion percentage, yearly heatmap
  • Pet companion: Pet type (fire, apple, robot, turtle), health level, name, creation date
  • Companion notes: Title, content, color, timestamps, pinned status
  • Quick reminders: Reminder text, scheduled time, color, completion status
  • Deleted habit archives: Historical statistics of deleted habits for record-keeping
  • Preferences: Selected visual theme, notification settings
  • Device identifier: A unique identifier (UIDevice.identifierForVendor) used solely for iCloud sync conflict resolution
  • Purchase status: Whether you have purchased premium features (stored locally and verified via Apple)

IV. Storage Technology

Data is stored using SwiftData, Apple's native framework, in the app's private container (group.focuz.world.Focuz.onesignal). This container is:

  • Protected by iOS security system
  • Isolated from other applications (sandbox)
  • Automatically encrypted when your device is locked
  • Accessible only by Focuz and its widgets

V. iCloud Synchronization

Optional Feature: iCloud sync is controlled entirely by your iOS device settings. Focuz does not force or require cloud synchronization.

If you have iCloud enabled for Focuz in your device settings:

  • Where data goes: Your private iCloud account via Apple CloudKit (container: iCloud.focuz.world.Focuz)
  • Who can access it: Only you, through devices signed into your Apple ID
  • What syncs: Habits, completions, pet data, notes, quick reminders, and deleted habit archives
  • Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
  • Our access: We have NO access to your iCloud data. It is stored in your private CloudKit database

To disable iCloud sync, go to iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud → Focuz → Toggle Off.

VI. What We Do NOT Do

Focuz DOES NOT perform any of the following activities:

  • Connections to our own servers (we have none)
  • Analytics or telemetry data collection
  • Use of third-party analytics (Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.)
  • Integration with advertising networks
  • Crash reporting to external servers (Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.)
  • User account creation or registration
  • Cross-app tracking or ATT usage
  • Remote push notifications (all notifications are local)
  • Behavioral profiling or user tracking

VII. In-App Purchases

Focuz offers a freemium model with optional premium features:

  • Payment processor: Apple App Store (StoreKit 2)
  • What we receive: Only a receipt confirming your purchase, verified directly with Apple
  • What we do NOT receive: Your payment details, credit card information, or Apple ID
  • Purchase storage: Your premium status is stored locally on your device
  • Third-party services: We do NOT use RevenueCat or similar subscription management services

All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We never see or store your financial information.

VIII. Requested Permissions

The app requests only the following optional permission:

Local notifications: To send you reminders for your habits and quick reminders at the times you configure. This permission is completely optional and can be revoked at any time from iOS Settings.

Permissions we DO NOT request:

Camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendar, photos, HealthKit, Bluetooth, tracking (ATT), or any other permission unnecessary for the app's functionality.

IX. Device Identifier

Focuz uses your device's vendor identifier (UIDevice.identifierForVendor) for the following purpose only:

  • Purpose: iCloud sync conflict resolution when the same data is modified on multiple devices
  • Storage: Locally on your device and in your private iCloud (if sync is enabled)
  • Sharing: Never shared with us or any third party
  • Tracking: NOT used for tracking, analytics, or advertising

X. Data Responsibility

Your data storage depends on your iCloud settings:

If iCloud sync is DISABLED:

  • All data remains exclusively on your device
  • Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all data
  • You are responsible for backups via iTunes/Finder

If iCloud sync is ENABLED:

  • Data syncs to your private iCloud account
  • Data persists across device reinstalls if you use the same Apple ID
  • Deleting data in the app will sync the deletion across your devices
  • To fully delete iCloud data, disable sync before uninstalling or manage via iCloud settings

XI. Children's Data

Focuz does not collect personally identifiable information from any user, making it appropriate for all ages (4+ rating). There are no:

  • User accounts or registration
  • User-generated content shared publicly
  • Social interaction between users
  • Age-restricted content

In-app purchases require parental permission if Family Sharing parental controls are enabled.

XII. Debugging Logs

To improve app stability, we use OSLog (Apple's logging system) which records only technical events:

  • Subsystem: com.focuz.app
  • In production: Only critical errors are logged
  • Storage: Logs remain on your device
  • Access: Only accessible via development tools (Xcode/Console.app)
  • Not transmitted: No logs are sent to external servers

XIII. User Rights

You can exercise the following rights at any time:

  • Access: View all your data from the app's statistics and settings screens
  • Rectification: Edit any habit, note, reminder, or pet configuration
  • Erasure: Delete individual items or uninstall the app to erase all local data
  • Portability: Your data syncs via iCloud to your other Apple devices (if enabled)
  • Restriction: Disable iCloud sync to prevent cloud storage

To exercise these rights, simply use the functions within the application. If you have questions, contact us at main@focuz.world.

XIV. Legal Compliance

Focuz operates in compliance with:

  • LFPDPPP (Mexican Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties)
  • GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation - European Union), Article 5 on data minimization
  • CCPA/CPRA (California Consumer Privacy Act - United States)
  • Apple App Store privacy policies

When iCloud sync is enabled, Apple acts as the data processor under their own privacy policy and terms. We do not access, process, or transfer your iCloud data.
